RESULT: This is the Ireland player JOE readers say was the best in the Euro 2016 group stage

Colm Boohig

One man has stood out a mile, in the eyes of Irish fans.

As Martin O’Neill’s men prepare to take on France in the last 16 of Euro 2016 on Sunday, we asked JOE readers to vote for who they felt was Ireland’s best player from the group stages.

There were quite a few to choose from, with Wes Hoolahan scoring one and assisting another, while Robbie Brady entered into the realm of hero status after his Italian job.

However, despite those two and another few tempting options, the JOE readers feel that one man has been better than all the rest.

As you’ll see, JOE readers reckon that Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick has been far and away the best player for the Boys in Green up to this point in Euro 2016, with the Derby player amassing over 66% of the vote.

Meanwhile, Robbie Brady has pipped Wes Hoolahan into second place, with each player receiving 13.71% and 10.74% of the vote respectively.
