Video: The standing jump on this GAA player is absolutely incredible

Good luck winning a high ball against him.

The Allianz League has made a welcome return to the GAA calender as counties take their first steps on a road that they all hope ends with a date in Croke Park this September.

Senior county players will tell you that all those tough and painstaking hours in the gym are worth it though if they can get a taste of victory but the commitment of other GAA players up and down the country is just as impressive in their pre-season training.

You might be familiar with the term ‘beer ban’ but it seems that ‘standing jumps’ are just as popular with this training regime that’s being undertaken by three clubs in Antrim.

Paul Reynolds is a former player who currently does strength and conditioning work for Cushendall (senior champs), Glenravel (junior champs) and Glenariff in north Antrim and it appears that the players are reaping the benefits of a few extra sessions in the gym.

Take a look as Danny Wrigglesworth and Matthew Rae demonstrate how to perform an incredible standing jump onto a box that’s 146cms in height with a 95kg weight applied.

Robbie Henshaw probably wouldn’t win a ball against these guys. This is seriously impressive stuff.
