The match, meanwhile, finished in a draw as both sides couldn’t be separated in the Munster Championship quarter-final.
Cork battled back from nine points down at one stage as both sides await the replay on June 8th, with All-Ireland champions Clare awaiting the winners.
Waterford held a 0-13 to 0-07 lead at the break and kicked on with a superb goal from young Austin Gleeson the highlight.
Bill Cooper’s goal brought Cork – inspired by Patrick Horgan – back into it and they managed to salvage what had seemed an unlikely draw by the death.
