Two second place finishes yesterday would suggest we’re getting closer. A horse at Epsom Downs and US Open tennis are the subject of today’s punts.
After a bad case of seconditis yesterday, the JOE punditry team are hot on the heels of winners today and we’re confident of the chances of TYFOS in the 4.00 race at Epsom Downs this afternoon to get the ball rolling.
A course and distance winner, Tyfos is the top weight for this Handicap event over 6f with the trusty Tom McLaughlin in the saddle.
Tyfos is a 5/2 chance to for the 4.00 at Epsom Downs.
At the US Open, French veteran Arnaud Clement caused something of a shock on Day 2 at Flushing Meadows, when overcoming 16th seed Marcos Baghdatis in five sets. Clement comes up against Argentinean Eduardo Schwank, who is apparently renowned for his wrist action and enjoyed a pretty routine victory over American Robby Ginepri on Tuesday.
There are only eleven places between Schwank (57) and Clement (68) in the world rankings, which would suggest that these two are pretty well-matched and that their encounter will be a closely fought one. We think that Clement will be inspired by his victory over Baghdatis and edge this one in another five-setter.
Arnaud Clement to beat Eduardo Schwank 3-2 can be backed at 9/2.
JOE’s Daily Double: Tyfos (Epsom Downs, 4.00 @ 5/2) and Arnaud Clement to beat Eduardo Schwank 3-2.
