It’s Ireland v England, but not as we know it. We play the Auld Enemy in cricket on Tuesday and JOE has picked out a 5/1 selection.

Alan Swinbank has a good strike rate at Newcastle, with a strike rate of more than 17 per cent over the past five years, and his NORTHSIDE PRINCE could go close in the 1m4f handicap at 2.40.

Northside Prince is still a maiden after ten runs but has been placed on four occasions so it would not be out of turn if he were to get his head in front.

The four-year-old could have more improvement in him than most of his rivals today and should benefit from both his first run of the season two weeks ago and the step-up to a mile and a half.

Ireland face England in a Twenty20 World Cup match in Guyana this evening. All eyes will be on Dubliner Eoin Morgan, who was in stunning form for England against West Indies on Monday night. He’s available at 11/2 to be England’s top runscorer for the second day running but we prefer the look of KEVIN O’BRIEN to score most for Ireland.

We anticipate a few early wickets going down, meaning middle-order big hitter O’Brien is almost certain to get his chance. Ireland were all out for less than 80 against the Windies on Friday so a repeat of that innings mean a couple of big sixes from Kevin might be enough to make him Ireland’s top scorer.

JOE’s Daily Double: Northside Prince (Newcastle, 2.40 @ 8/1) and Kevin O’Brien (top scorer for Ireland v England @ 5/1)
