“Guards of honour as adoring fans flock to see happy Tiger,” headlines the Irish Independent.

“Celtic Tiger: Woods proves his pulling power in Adare,” reads the Irish Times.

Tiger Woods is in town, well, Adare village in Co Limerick to be precise.

Over 40,000 fans showed up at the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am to catch a glimpse of the first billionaire sportsman.

The Indo compares the quaint Irish village with Hollywood as Catherine Zeta Jones went shopping in local boutiques while hubby Michael Douglas played golf with Charlie McCreevy.

Ok, so you wouldn’t expect to see Charlie McCreevy in LA but Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Grant and many other stars, both homegrown and from abroad, brought glamour to Adare.

The picture above shows Tiger with Irish businessman Dermot Desmond during the first round of the tournament.

Tales from the Tabs

Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly paid a surrogate mother to have his baby son, it is claimed in the Daily Star.

“Portuguese insiders reckon the £80million Real Madrid ace struck a big money deal with a good looking, fertile US mum,” reads the Star.

Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, has been looking after the two-week old boy in the Algarve, Spain while her brother played in the World Cup.

“He has brown eyes and brown hair like Cristiano,” she said. “He’s very happy, of course. Who isn’t happy having children?”

It is expected that Ronaldo will reveal his sons name when he returns to Madrid.

The Sports Pages

Alex Ferguson has targeted Holland midfielder Wesley Sneijder as the ideal player o link with Wayne Rooney for the coming season, claims The Sun.

Sneijder would cost Manchester United something in the region of £35 million. He moved from Real Madrid to Inter Milan last season for £13 million but his value has rocketed since then due to his performances in the Champions League and the World Cup.
