06/09 The End of the Day

Home time. Time to race from the office and catch the last of that sunshine. Or on the other hand, stick around for a little bit and check out our tips for tonight.

Staff at the Eden Project get to have their first walk above the biggest rainforest in captivity from Eden’s new Rainforest Lookout on September 6, in St Austell, England. The new aerial platform – which is higher than the Tower of London at the top of the 55-metre-high biome, the largest greenhouse in the world – allows visitors to the Eden Project the chance to look down on the tropical canopy in a way they could never have before.

Tonight’s Telly

Pick of the night: Sons of Anarchy, RTE2, 11:50pm.

Series 2 of the biker drama begins tonight as a white supremacist and his associate are motivated to bring down the biker gang. With a quality cast featuring Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Katey Sagal (Futurama)and Charlie Hunnam (Green Street), Anarchy has been growing a steady fanbase on our shores for the last year and now is a good time as any to sample the biker antics for yourself

More TV: This is England, Channel 4, 11.10pm.

Shane Meadow’s critically acclaimed This is England is one of the most interesting British films of the last decade, as the director perfectly balances light scenes of comedy with an underpinning of simmering violence and hostility, which erupts in a particularly violent finale. Set in 1983, Thomas Turgoose stars as a 12-year-old that joins a group of skinheads in Thatcher-era Britain. Stephen Graham (Snatch, Public Enemies) gives the drama a menacing presence. With Channel 4’s This Is England 86 sequel starting as a TV series on Tuesday, tonight’s broadcast is a must.

Mood Swingometer

Today JOE has mostly been feeling kind of… terrified.

Is anywhere safe when giant bales of hay are killing rockstars? Damn nature, you scary!

Live Like JOE

Pretend you were at Electric Picnic, with the wonder of JOE’s gallery of the weekend’s action.
