“No More Cuts” roars the main headline of the Irish Examiner.

Thousands of protestors marched to the Dail yesterday in disbelief at Taoiseach Brian Cowen’s assertion that respite services would not be cut, when some already have.

Budget cuts to voluntary bodies providing services to people with intellectual disabilities have angered support groups all over the country.

Opposition leader Enda Kenny told the Dail yesterday that the Government had “lost its passion” on the matter.

Mr Cowen rebuked. “It will not happen as far as I am concerned, no such decisions have been made,” he said.

Meanwhile the Irish Independent carries a story that will make all men sit up and take note.

“Au pair (22) preyed on foolish men” reads the headline.

A pretty German au pair convinced her Irish boyfriend to lend her €2,000 which she never repaid.

“German women must have ways of extracting money from foolish Irish men that Irish women have not been able to accomplish yet,” Judge Mary Fahey told Galway District court yesterday
