It’s all too easy for the headlines on the back pages this morning after Wayne Rooney scored the opener in England’s 3-1 win away to Switzerland.
‘Roo takes Swiss to Coleeners’ and ‘Wayne plays away… and scores again’ – both in today’s Sun.
It had been 11 international games and almost a year since Rooney had scored for England but his strike in the 10th minute broke the barren spell.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier will be officially named as the new Aston Villa manager today.
Houllier, 63, has been tight-lipped over the job but revealed: “It was the club that took the initiative.”
