The Front Pages

Here’s what the main headlines look like this morning:

‘FAI fills the best seats at 25pc of ‘new’ price’ – the Irish Independent.

‘US pastor cancels burning of Koran after mosque deal’ – the Irish Times.

‘Quinn Insurance confirms likely double-digit hike in premiums’ – the Irish Examiner.

The Indo is continuing to stamp its foot with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) after they revealed premium ticket sales difficulties for the new Aviva Stadium this week.

In the latest development, the national broadsheet reports that most of the top-priced seats are occupied by clients who paid less than a quarter of their current value. The report puts intensifying pressure on FAI Chief Executive John Delaney to come up with answers.

Meanwhile, Quinn Insurance, which provides cover for one in five motorists in Ireland and insures thousands of homes, has confirmed it is likely to increase premiums by double-digit figures in the coming months.

Tales from the Tabs

Boyband JLS is launching a range of charity condoms in association with Durex, the Sun reports.

Bandmember Marvin Humes said yesterday: “We were at The Sun and mentioned that we had the idea of having our own condom range.

“The boss of Durex saw the story in the paper the next day, got in touch and the idea was born from there.”

All profits from the range will go to the new JLS charity foundation – and the band will distribute the cash from there to their chosen charities.

Could it get any worse for Arsenal?

Last night they were dealt a massive injury blow as the in-form Theo Walcott was ruled out for six weeks.

The forward, who has been inspirational for the Gunners this season, damaged ankle ligaments in England’s 3-1 win over Switzerland on Tuesday night and will now miss the opening Champions League clashes against Braga and Partizan Belgrade as well as the crunch Premier League visit to Chelsea on October 3.

The news comes as another setback to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is also without Robin van Persie for a similar period of time due an ankle injury. The Star has more on this story.
