Pic of the Day: What represents the spirit of the biggest show on earth and captures the essence of the beautiful game. I know, a big feckin dung beetle!

Tonight’s Telly

Pick of the night: France v Uruguay, RTE, 7.30pm

This is France’s first competitive game since stealing their World Cup place from us – and Uruguay are no mugs. There has been a lot of drama going on in the French camp so an upset could be in the offing.

More TV: It’s All Gone Pete Tong, BBC2, 11.45pm

Paul Kaye stars in this comedy of yesteryear about an Ibiza-based DJ who sends himself deaf. There are a few good laughs in here but worth watching just as much for a nostalgic look at the old Ibiza era.

Live Like JOE…Get in the mood

It’s underway boys – we’re so excited we could piss ourselves. The opening ceremony was well worth a watch and football – the actual football itself, has started. We had the hosts up against the Mexicans early today but the first big one with an Irish interest is just hours away. Mon Uruguay!

If you’re looking for a World Cup match-tracker so you can keep up-to-date while you’re at work or whatever, then look no further. JOE.ie will be giving live updates on all the games throughout the tournament. Go here for today’s minute-by-minute updates.
