The Front Pages

Here’s how some of today’s headlines read on the front covers of the nationals:

‘Two stuffed turkeys and 14m cigarettes seized at airport’ – the Irish Examiner.

‘EU leaders to urge closer links with Nato at summit’ – the Irish Times.

‘Kenny: I’ll need 10 years to fix economy’ – the Irish Independent.

The eye-catching headline in the Examiner today leads into detail of the type of criminal activity which has been uncovered in Dublin airport this year.

More than 14 million cigarettes and nearly €1.5 million worth of illicit drugs – along with two stuffed turkeys and erectile dysfunction-type drugs – are just some of the items customs officers at Dublin Airport have seized from passengers so far this year.

Meanwhile, Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny last night dramatically began his general election campaign by claiming he would need 10 years in power to repair the economy – even before his party has won a single vote.
