14/05 JOE’s Daily Double

We've our eyes on a speedster in racing and sluggers in cricket for JOE's bets on Friday morning.

JOE

We’ve our eyes on a speedster in racing and sluggers in cricket for JOE’s bets on Friday morning.

SOCIETY ROCK takes the eye in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes (Newbury, 2.20). James Fanshawe’s colt showed a blistering turn of foot to win a similar contest at Ascot two weeks ago and can take another step up the sprinting ladder here.

He is three from three over six furlongs and the manner of his victory last time out, when he was repeatedly short of room but sprouted wings when the gap appeared, suggests he could be on his way to the top.

Elsewhere, we’re taking a short price about AUSTRALIA TO HIT MOST SIXES in their Twenty20 Cricket World Cup semi-final against Pakistan.

The Aussies have bashed 38 maximums so far this tournament, compared to only 25 for Pakistan, and if sluggers like David Warner, Shane Watson or the Hussey brothers hit form they should outgun their opponents for the second time (they already won by a comfortable 34 runs in the initial group stage).

JOE’s Daily Double: Society Rock (Newbury, 2.20 @ 11/10) & Australia to hit more sixes than Pakistan (Cricket Twenty20 World Cup semi-final @ 8/11)
