It’s Day 5 of the World Cup and Day 1 of Royal Ascot, where there’s a fine card with some mouth-watering clashes in prospect in the Group races.
For the JOE bet, however, we’ll take a stab at the day’s big handicap with ELYAADI. John Queally’s mare has been hit hard by the handicapper for her win at Leopardstown a fortnight ago.
However we have a hunch that this mare could really thrive over extreme distances. She has a strong finish and as a half sister to smart staying hurdler Sadlers Wings, there is plenty of encouragement stamina-wise.
There are a few rivals a lot better handicapped, but on the basis that staying will be the name of the game, we’ll go for Elyaadi.
Elsewhere, we’re going for LUIS FABIANO to register the opening goal against North Korea.
The Sevilla forward hasn’t scored in his last eight matches for Brazil but we reckon he’s the best bet for the tournament’s top scorer, so it makes sense to back him at 3/1 to score first against one of the tournament’s weakest sides.
JOE’s Daily Double: Elyaadi (Royal Ascot, 5.00 @ 16/1) & Luis Fabiano to score first (Brazil v North Korea, 3/1)
