Saturday Night Live and Hot Rod star Andy Samberg made a big impression at last night’s ESPY Awards at the Nokia Theater in LA, dressed as World Cup oracle ‘Paul the Octopus’. The ESPY’s are an annual sports awards show organised by US sports network ESPN, with US Comedian Samberg entertaining the crowd with his incorrect predictions for NBA star LeBron James’ latest team after leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers – LeBron had joined the Miami Heat Friday night.

Today JOE has been feeling…forlorn.
English international football legend Emile Heskey has retired from international football, following a disappointing World Cup by his usual sensational standards. Heskey leaves behind a legacy of rare goals, wayward passes, and generally strolling around the pitch enjoying the fresh air, with an enviable 7 goals in 62 appearences for the Aston Villa bench-warmer. Not since we missed the day we discovered the JOE office had HD TV coverage has the JOE team stood in awe, dumbstruck at such life-changing events. Heskey, we hardly knew ye.

Inside Man and Do The Right Thing director Spike Lee expores his ancestry tonight, beginning with his beloved grandmother, and eventually discovering his ancestor’s roots in the American Civil War and life under slavery. As with any episode of the genealogy documentary show, expect surprises, secrets and typicall fortright views from Lee, who isn’t prone to mincing his words.
Movie pick: Terminator 2, Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror, 9:00pm.
Box office king of the world James Cameron doesn’t make much films, but when he does (Aliens, Titanic, Avatar) he always manages to bring state-of-the-art special effects and heart-stopping action, demolishing previously-held box office records in the process. Terminator 2 was no exception, and is arguably the greatest action movies of the 90s. Witness a frighteningly-built Linda Hamilton, a fantastic Guns N’ Roses soundtrack and the undeniable coolness of Arnie’s single-arm shotgun reload in the reservoic chase scene. A man-movie classic.
