For today’s Daily Double, we’re hoping that two controversial characters can deliver the goods; Kieren Fallon at York and Antonio Cassano in Germany.

We’re hoping for a lucky last at York today in the 4.40 race provided that Kieren Fallon lands the spoils aboard SOORAH.

The William Haggas-trained three-year-old is up in class today after scoring a double last month and was narrowly turned over last time out at Yarmouth to prevent a three-in-a-row, but this mile event should get him back into the winner’s enclosure.

We’re banking on Soorah to skate home as the 5/2 favourite.

Now that Mesut Ozil has gone to Real Madrid, the Champions League qualifier clash between Werder Bremen and Sampdoria has lost its appeal slightly, but with little else of note happening on this Wednesday night, we’re going to turn to the clash in the Weserstadion as the subject of the second half of today’s Daily Double.

Recent efforts by the JOE pundits to predict the score in the clash between Man U and Newcastle and Monday night and Spurs’ encounter with Young Boys last night have both gone wrong, so instead we’re going to turn to the first goalscorer market in search of some value.

Italian striker Antonio Cassano has a bit of a reputation for petulance and a short temper, but has always found the net in a career which has taken in spells at Bari, Roma and Real Madrid. Since joining Sampdoria permanently in 2008, he has scored 36 goals in 101 appearances, better than a goal every three games and at 9/1 we think he’s good value to hit the net first this evening.

JOE’s Daily Double: Soorah (4.40 York @ 5/2) and Antonio Cassano to score the first goal in the clash between Werder Bremen and Sampdoria at 9/1.
