Fresh from a successful double pick on Tuesday, JOE is greedily going back in for more on Wednesday with selections from racing and football.
For today the racing pick is NOVEL INVESTMENT in Sligo’s 6.40.
On the form of his runs on good ground at Killarney in May and August 2008, John Brassil’s nine-year-old looks a handicap snip off a mark of 95 against modest opposition.
On his last two starts he has performed better than his finishing place suggests. At various stages of both races, he was noted making eye-catching ground with minimal effort from the jockey. It appears he was unable to sustain these bursts of pace due to running on rain softened ground and three miles last time may have been a stretch too far.
Unfortunately rain arrived in Sligo on Tuesday, but hopefully with a forecast dry day on Wednesday, the ground will be no worse than good to yielding. All Novel Investment’s best form is on a sound surface and I expect him to come back to form with a bang this evening.
Later in the day, the big football game around Europe is the final of Spain’s Copa del Rey, in which Atletico Madrid will be seeking to add another trophy to the Europa League cup they won last week.
Atletico were clearly suffering from the hangover when they went down 3-0 at home to Getafe at the weekend, however, and we can see SEVILLA taking the spoils tonight. Go for the half-time, full-time double result for better value.
JOE’s Daily Double: Novel Investment (Sligo, 6.40 @ 5/1) & Sevilla to lead at half-time and win at full-time (Cope del Rey final, 10/3)
