We’re doing a tour of windy English seaside resorts today, with World Matchplay Darts from Blackpool and racing from Yarmouth.
Sir Mark Prescott is a past master at earning favourable handicap marks for his three-year-olds, running them three times over inadequate trips at two before unleashing a more mature horse over its optimum distance the following year. ALBACOCCA (Yarmouth, 3.15) looks like she could fit snugly into that category.
Having never finished better than seventh as a two-year-old, and started at odds of 10/1, 40/1 and 66/1 for those three runs, the With Approval filly was priced up at 6/4 this morning. That price has drifted slightly, with top weight Apache Kid also fancied, but Albacocca is getting 15 pounds from that rival and could be up to winning on her handicap debut.
Later, we’ll switch to darts for the second day of the World Matchplay from the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Phil Taylor is 1/50 to over Barrie Bates but we’ll take a stab at a correct score. Taylor has beaten Bates 5-1, 6-1 and 6-1 in the pair’s last three meetings and we don’t think The Power will allow the Welshman many legs tonight. A 10-1 WIN FOR TAYLOR is 17/2 and we’ll go with that.
JOE’s Daily Double: Albacocca (Yarmouth, 3.15 @ 2/1) & Phil Taylor to beat Barrie Bates 10-1 (17/2)
