‘From bullfight to bull fright’ reads the Irish Examiner main headline this morning.

A bull managed to leap out of the arena and into the crowd in Tafalla near Pamplona, northern Spain yesterday afternoon. The bull was killed after it charged into the crowd, injuring around 40 spectators in the process, and now the incident has fuelled wider debate about the banning of bullfighting in Spain.

Meanwhile, back at home Bank of Ireland Scotland (Ireland) has announced it will wind up its operations in the country by the end of the year.

‘Firms face squeeze as battered bank beats a retreat’ headlines the Irish Independent.

Thousands of business will need to find a new bank after the Lloyds TSB-owned bank announced yesterday that it would cease trading here in December when it will hand in its banking licence.

Tales from the tabs

‘A UFO expert claims the infamous Alien Autopsy film was a “total scam” to net a worldwide fortune,’ reads the opening paragraph of an intriguing report in the Star.

Philip Mantle, editor of the UFO Matrix Magazine, is about to release 14 years of work in a tell-all book on the film. Mantle says that musician Ray Santilli “conned the world” with the film. Mantle reckons he has proof that the film was shot in a London apartment by a US military official.

‘Thanks Balot, Mario’ reads a headline in the Sun after Manchester City’s blushes were saved by new signing Mario Balotelli who came off the bench to score on his debut in Romania last night.

City only managed a 1-0 win away to Romanian minnows FC Timisoara and Blues manager Roberto Mancini had to rely upon the £23 million wonder kid Balotelli to net the winner.

Balotelli did limp off the field before play ended but his injury is not thought to be too serious according to Mancini.

“We think it’s not too serious. It was probably just a kick, but it is not a problem. In the end this was a very good result for us,” the City boss said.
