The Irish Independent tells of Graeme McDowell’s plans for a massive party and civic reception after he became the first European to win the US Open in 40 years last weekend. He will return to his Antrim home later this week.

The Irish Examiner has learnt of the death of an Irishman who was killed in a plane crash in central Africa.

“James Cassley, who was born in Ballymena, Co Antrim, and brought up in Quin, Co Clare, was on the chartered flight from Cameroon to the Democratic Republic of Congo.”

The plane, with 11 passengers on board, disappeared on Saturday and the wreckage was found last night.
