Three out of the last four Daily Doubles have come in at odds of 21/1, 23/1 and 25/1. Can we land another?
Monday’s horseracing selection is BAY WILLOW in Leicester’s 5.30, a 1m4f maiden. Typical of one coming from Mark Johnston’s yard, Bay Willow has been kept very busy with this his fourth run in a month. He has run respectably in well-contested maidens the last twice and his Chepstow second to Hayzoom (subsequently a good fourth off 80 in a Sandown handicap) was a particularly fair effort.
He has kept on well in these races having been outpaced at crucial stages so the step-up to almost 12 furlongs should benefit the son of Singspiel. This galloping type could try to make all at a fair pace today and he’s fancied to outstay his main market rival Magnetic Force, who is not quite as stoutly bred as the selection.
Later on tonight the Sky Sports cameras will be focusing intently on England as Fabio Capello’s side kick off their preparations for next month’s World Cup finals with a friendly against Mexico at Wembley.
With the Chelsea contingent of John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole all to be rested, Capello is expected to experiment slightly but WAYNE ROONEY is still likely to shoulder the goalscoring burden. Take the Manchester United star to open the scoring against the Mexicans.
