What do you get when you put together Steven Seagal and a cute Asian tennis player? A nasty dose of St John’s Wort.

Pick of the night: On Deadly Ground, 12.30am, RTE 2
Steven Seagal may have turned into a sleazy-looking, overweight slob of a human being but he used to be your hero. Watch him tonight at the peak of his powers battling to save the Alaskan wilderness from a ruthless oil company. He goes through the bulk of this film, battering all and sundry, without taking as much as a punch.
Sporting highlight: Ireland v Paraguay, 7:45pm, BBC 2
This and Friday’s clash with Algeria will be pretty much the height of it for Irish international football fans this summer. After that we’re all ‘neutrals’.
Live Like JOE…Eat weird stuff
It’s not the 1800’s and we as a race are no longer obliged to eat potatoes at every meal. Sure, they’re versatile, easy to cook and tasty in a bland sort of way but there is tons of other stuff you could be cramming down your spud hole.
We’ve been recommending all sorts of gear which will improve your life in various ways – the latest being the scarily-named St John’s Wort. Apparently it’s just the job for warding off depression – so you might find it floating in your tea as concerned friends and family attempt to coax you out of spiraling bouts of suicidal misery during the World Cup.

Today we’re feeling… bitter
Ireland are playing Paraguay tonight in a pre-World Cup warm-up game – for them. The sad fact of the matter is that this match, or maybe our friendly against Algeria on Friday, is going to be the footballing highlight of the summer for the Irish team because we were robbed of our place in the tournament by the Blatter-Henry conspiracy! I know we should be getting over it but it’s just not happening. *bangs table* It’s just not fair! *stamps feet* Everyone else is going and we want to go too! *sobs*
