‘Fortress Croker as barriers go up on Hill’ – the headline on this morning’s front cover of the Irish Independent.

A 2.8 metre barricade is currently being erected at GAA headquarters in order to prevent pitch invasions and Hill 16 will have its new fence in time for Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Kildare and Down.

CRIME gangs making €3 million a week from selling smuggled cigarettes are using children as young as 12-years-old as “runners” to hold their cash, reads the report. Apparently, One of the busiest locations for this illegal activity is the market in Drogheda.

‘Aer Arann says flights unaffected as examiner appointed to firm’ – the Irish Times headline concerning the Irish airline entering interim examinership, a much reported story today.

The company is currently insolvent and cannot pay debts of around €10 million.
