28/04 Tonight’s Telly

Time to have a look at what's on the telly tonight...Two brilliant movies with the footie in between, we can't ask for more

JOE

Tonight’s Telly

Pick of the night: The Beach, E4, 9.00pm.

A young backpacker arrives in Bangkok, where a wild-eyed and paranoid veteran traveller tells him of the exact location of a remote paradise island. When he finally makes it to the golden beaches, he discovers there is already a community in residence. All is not as it seems, however, and the happy idyll soon turns sour. Danny Boyle’s drama, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Carlyle, Virginie Ledoyen and Tilda Swinton. You’ll love the ocean scene!

Sporting highlight: Live – UEFA Champions League Football, RTE2 from 7pm and UTV from 7.30pm.

All the action from the semi-final second-leg encounter at the Nou Camp, where the holders entertain Jose Mourinho’s Italian champions, who lead 3-1 from the first leg at the San Siro. Barca won 2-0 when the sides met here in the group stage, and a repeat of that result would be enough to see them progress to the final on the away goals rule. However, Inter’s away wins over Chelsea and CSKA Moscow in the two previous rounds prove they cannot be underestimated on foreign soil.

More TV: Mission Impossible 2, Sky One, 10.30pm.

Secret agent Ethan Hunt is sent to find and destroy the only sample of a deadly man-made virus. However, he faces tough opposition in a former spy-turned-criminal mastermind who has already acquired the cure and now wants the pathogen itself. Director John Woo’s action thriller sequel, starring Tom Cruise, Dougray Scott, Thandie Newton and Anthony Hopkins.
