Live Like JOE…
DON’T BE AFRAID TO DATE.
We think that we are living in a cosmopolitan society here in Ireland but, when it comes to dating, we’re still in the dark ages. In Central Europe and the Americas it’s common practise to ask a girl for her number after you make that lingering eye contact for more than five seconds in the library or supermarket – it’s a long time to hold a gaze with a stranger.
Women usually say – “Why doesn’t that guy just ask me out? He’s hot. I’d definitely have a bit of that.†Well, the truth is that when it boils down to it, the ladies usually crumble when approached in public by a stranger. We cannot give up the fight though guys and here’s some tips on how to attract a date:
- Eye contact – As referred to already, eye contact is the key in the door. It has to be confident, unwavering and subtle. Don’t stare the girl to death. If you connect, break a half-smile – not a big ear-to-ear grinner either.
- The approach – If you’re in a public place where there’s lots of people about map your path to her instantly. Avoid clumsy bumps or obstacles like knocking a box of melons onto the supermarket floor while making your advance. Stride towards her and on arrival smile and introduce yourself. No cheesy chat-up lines and most of all – DO NOT invade her space, stay at least eight inches away from her face.
- Exchanging digits – Offer your number first, don’t ask for hers straight up. If she wants to give you hers then by all means take it. Don’t make a big deal of it and when you to turn walk away – back away for a few steps, don’t turn on your heel and scurry off.
