Mood Swingometer

Today JOE has been feeling…grapple-happy.

Who hasn’t thrown on a pair of elbow pads and leaped off their bed as a child, crushing their brother in the process? To coincide with the return of TNA wrestling to Ireland, JOE’s Conor Hogan had a chat with UK wrestler Desmond Wolfe on breaking into the business, working with his childhood legends, and his un-made screenplay he’s hoping to get picked up. It’s a long informative read, and well worth a look.

Tonight’s Telly

Pick of the night: Live UEFA Europa League: Shamrock Rovers Vs Juventus, RTE Two, 7:30pm.

All eyes are on Tallaght Stadium tonight as Shamrock Rovers taken on Serie A titans Juventus in the third round qualifying first-leg UEFA Europa League tie tonight. Two-time European Cup winners Juventus have had a tough time of it lately in their domestic league but still firmly expected to conquer Rovers over both legs. Either way, it’s sure to be an unforgettable and prestigious night for Irish football.

Movie pick: Die Hard, Film4 9:00pm

The ultimate man’s movie, Bruce Willis cast aside his sitcom reputation with his first action-packed lead role in 1988’s Die Hard. With nothing more than a few iconic quips and a dirty wife-beater across his torso, Willis dominates the screen in John McTiernan’s classic, as he tries to stop a group of terrorists that are holding hostages in an L.A building. The leader of the aforementioned terrorists, Alan Rickman as German baddie Hans Gruber, provides easily the stand-out performance in what was astonishingly Rickman’s first film appearence. Unmissable.

Meet famous people

Hot on the heels of meeting the inimitable Jedward and the IT Crowd’s Chris O’Dowd, JOE met up with Northern Ireland golf sensation Rory McIlroy, asking him about the British Open and his recent cover appearence on the latest Tiger Woods videogame. Well worth a read if you ask us – and yes, we do mean a read of all those links.
