Glorious Goodwood and great Galway are drawing near a close and we hope a winner at both tracks will end our week on a high note today.
In Goodwood, the standard for the Group 3 Coutts Glorious Stakes, over 1m 4f at 2.10, is set by SRI PUTRA following a career-best performance when finishing second to Twice Over in the Group 1 Coral Eclipse at Sandown earlier this month.
The Michael Jarvis trained 4-year-old is already a Group 3 winner this year but his main obstacle is the 3lb he concedes to the rest of the field this afternoon. At 7/1, Sri Putra is massive value in a highly competitive opener at Goodwood.
We’re holding out until the 6.50 at Galway for a Dermot Weld runner by the name of NATURAL HIGH.
Weld has had another extraordinary run at the Festival thus far and it’s set to continue with last summer’s course winner Natural High.
This son of Sadler’s Wells barely had to break into a sweat to score over 1m 6f at Killarney last time out and it will take something special to finish in front of Pat Smullen’s ride.
Weld hasn’t been in the winners enclosure on a Friday at the Galway Festival for five years but that’s all about to change, as Natural High can produce the goods and can be snapped up at odds of 2/1.
JOE’s Daily Double: Sri Putra (Goodwood, 2.10 @ 7/1) & Natural High (Galway, 6.50 @ 2/1)
