Due to a football drought this week we turn to tennis and the US Open, coupled with a horse at Huntingdon for our Daily Double.
The first round of the US Open sees world number nine seed Andy Roddick take to the court at Ashe Stadium this evening against French player Stephane Robert and anything but a win is unthinkable for the American.
Roddick, who turns 28 today, won the US Open back in 2003 and will be hoping to get off to a solid start in the final Grand Slam event of the year.
Have a cut at Roddick to win three sets to one at odds of 16/5.
In racing there’s plenty of action to look forward to but we’ve opted for a Tim Vaughan runner in the 4.50 Maiden Hurdle over 2m.
CONTRADIKTIVE takes to fences for only his second time and he looked very much open to improvement on his third placed jumping debut at Hereford last time out.
Although he disappointed favourite backers on that particular day we are willing to put it down to inexperienced jumping. With 7lb claimer Thomas David taking the ride today we expect to see a more fruitful result.
Contradiktive is super value at 10/1 for the 4.50 at Huntingdon.
JOE’s Daily Double: Andy Roddick to beat Stephane Robert 3-1 in the US Open and Contradiktive (4.50, Huntingdon @10/1)
