AC Milan have made an approach to sign Manchester City’s want-away forward Robinho, according to Sky Sports News.

AC Milan have been searching for an attacker, and have shown an interest in both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho.

“Robinho is the alternative to Ibrahimovic, but we want the Swedish striker,” Vice-president Adriano Galliani told Sky Italia.

It now appears that Milan’s attempts to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been unsuccessful, as Sky have confirmed that the Italian club have made an official approach for Robinho.

The 26-year-old Brazilian spent the second half of last season on loan to Brazilian club Santos, after falling out with Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

Turkish club Fenerbache made a £19million offer for Robinho last week, only for the Brazilian to reject the move.

“With all due respect to Turkish football, I’m not going to play there at the moment,” Robinho said. “The only thing I’ll say is that I’ll carry on in Europe, in Italy or Spain.”
