New Zealand made it six wins out of six in this year’s Tri-Nations series with a one point win over Australia in Sydney on Saturday morning.

The All-Blacks had already won the Tri-Nations title and the Bledisloe Cup, but were looking for their 15th consecutive test victory on the trot and their tenth consecutive victory over bitter rivals Australia heading into this morning’s clash in Sydney.

The Wallabies led 11-3 at the break thanks to a James O’Connor try and two Matt Giteau penalties with a Piri Weepu penalty New Zealand’s only response.

Australia extended their lead with a try from Adam Ashley-Cooper after the break and after Giteau and Weepu exchanged two penalties apiece, the hosts led 22-9 midway through the second half.

The All Blacks staged a late rally, however and nicked two tries through Richie McCaw and Kieran Read, both converted by Weepu, to snatch a single point victory and achieve a record tenth consecutive victory over the Wallabies.
