Nearly 70 per cent of Irish workers have lied on their C.V., according to a new survey carried out by Peninsula Ireland.
What does your C.V. say about you? Well, if you’re an Irish worker, chances are it says whatever the heck you want it to say. According to a new survey conducted by Peninsula Ireland, nearly 70 per cent of workers have told a little fib or two on their C.V.
Over 1,020 employees were quizzed and 69 per cent of them admitted to elaborating a bit on their résumé. It found that 77% of people falsified qualifications, 17% have changed their job title to sound like they were more important and 89% admitted that they would lie in future job applications. Sure, if it isn’t broke…
Alan Price, Managing Director of Peninsula Ireland said: “It’s not just qualifications that are exaggerated but job roles, changing the dates of employment and tweaking job role titles are very much common.”
“My advice would be to tell the truth, it’s easier, get the job on merit not on fabricated lies; it’s then down to you to prove yourself to your employer.”
We wonder if the other 30 per cent of people who said they never lied on their C.V. are the same 30 people who admitted to lying on a survey?
Who knows?
