Four up-and-coming Irish acts are set to face off in Dublin’s Crawdaddy tonight in a bid secure a much coveted slot at this year’s Electric Picnic.

The four bands, Goatboy, Cloud Castle Lake, Sounds of System Breakdown and Friend?, earned a spot in tonight’s final after dispatching 12 other bands in qualifying heats.

The winning act will take to the stage on a bill featuring a string of big-name international acts at the three-day Electric Picnic event, running from 3 to 5 September.

The event is Heineken-sponsored which means that not only is it free admission, but those who go along to Crawdaddy tonight will earn themselves a complimentary bottle of Heineken and a place in a draw to win a pair of Electric Picnic tickets. Not bad.

Judges on the night include Celina Murphy from Hotpress, John McCallion from Warner Music, Niall Byrne of Nialler9 and Day & Night and Declan Forde from Pod Concerts.
