It’s going to be another wet and wild day today as Met Éireann is predicting that strong gusts with speeds of up to 120kph may hit some coastal areas of Ireland.

Met Éireann has issued two weather warning todays, stating that a gale warning along with a general weather warning are in effect. So be careful your umbrella doesn’t fold in on itself.

The strongest gusts of 120kph are expected to hit Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal while winds of 45 to 60 kph with gusts of 60 to 90 kph have been predicted for the rest of Connacht and Munster.

The strong winds will hit most coastal counties later this evening and Met Éireann says that these winds could even reach storm force before the day is out.

Rain will make its way eastwards throughout the day, giving way to some sunny spells in the west, but the weather warning will be in place until at least 3pm this afternoon. So prepare for a right soaking.

Road users are also being warned of the hazardous conditions being caused by the rain as flash flooding may occur in some places. The rain hit Galway pretty hard yesterday, as you’ll see here.
