Rafael Benitez is expected meet with Inter Milan chiefs to discuss the vacant manager job.

Benitez is expected to make a quick return to management following his departure from Liverpool on Thursday and could replace Jose Mourinho who has switched to Real Madrid.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has earmarked the Spaniard as the club’s first choice and holds him in high regard when interviewed in Corriere dello Sport.

“I can only speak well of him because he is very good,” Moratti answered.

Moratti confirmed that negotiations will begin next week.

“Yes, that is the direction and in the next few days we will see, we will decide.

“It’s also important that he has always done well in Europe, to continue to get joy from the Champions League is our aim”.
