Fiorentina have confirmed that Celtic and Poland goalkeeper Artur Boruc will join the Italian club for a fee of €2million, subject to a medical.
Boruc had one year left to run on his contract, and Celtic have decided to sell now in order to avoid losing him for nothing next season.
The statement on the Fiorentina website read; “FC Fiorentina announces that it has reached agreement with Glasgow Celtic for the acquisition of Artur Boruc. The negotiations will be completed after the results of the medical.”
Fellow Polish international Lukasz Zaluska is expected to be Celtic’s first choice goalkeeper for next season.
Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland international Aiden McGeady is also set to leave the Glasgow club, after being left out of Celtic’s squad for their North American tour.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Martin O’Neill’s Aston Villa, in a cash plus player deal involving England centre forward Emile Heskey.
