The current manager of the USA national team, Bob Bradley has emerged as a leading contender to replace Martin O’Neill as manager of Aston Villa.
Bradley became the favourite with various bookmakers yesterday, with some outlets quoting prices as low as 7/2 for Bradley to occupy the vacant managerial position at Villa Park.
Bradley, 52, has been in charge of the USA since December 2006 and guided them to the last 16 at the World Cup in South Africa, where they were eliminated by Ghana after finishing ahead of England in Group C. He had previously been linked with the Fulham job last month before the appointment of Mark Hughes.
Bradley’s contract with the USA expires at the end of this year and he has stated that he would open to the idea of coaching in Europe.
“I have said over and over as well that I am always excited about new and different challenges. Certainly coaching in Europe at some point is something that I would love to do,†said Bradley ahead of the USA’s friendly against Brazil on Tuesday night.
“At the same time, I also consider it a challenge when you finish one [World Cup] cycle and begin the process of working on another one. From the time one World Cup ends, you begin to go through the process of assessing where you are,†he added.
Sven Goran Eriksson, Alan Curbishley, Slaven Bilic, Jurgen Klinsmann and Gareth Southgate have also been linked with the position.
