Derry football has been rocked with the news that star forward Paddy Bradley has left the panel ahead of the Oak Leafers’ qualifier championship clash with Carlow.
It has been reported that Bradley was told by manager Damian Cassidy that he would not be part of the starting line up for the game against Carlow at Dr Cullen Park and subsequently decided not to travel with the rest of the squad.
It is not the first time that Bradley, who has spoken openly of his intention to retire from the inter-county scene at the end of the season, has left the Derry panel. Last July, he briefly withdrew from the panel citing personal reasons, before returning to shoot 2-8 in a man of the match performance in Derry’s victory over Monaghan in the qualifiers.
Bradley’s decision to leave the panel is said not to have affected the commitment of his brother, Eoin, who travelled to Carlow with the rest of the Derry squad.
