Athletic Bilbao had an easy victory over Albacete in the Copa del Rey last night and were helped on their way by a lovely piece of improvisation from Gaizka Toquero.
With Bilbao two goals to the good on aggregate and a little over ten minutes remaining, the tie was as good as over, but Bilbao forward Toquero put the icing on the cake with an opportunistic backheel that seemed to take an age to fly into the net.
There was a suspicion of offside at different stages of the move, but credit to Toquero, the chance looked to be gone before he thrust his heel at the ball and sent it beyond the despairing dive of Campos in the Albacete goal.
It was the sort of strike that, if Emile Heskey tried it, he’d end up on the flat of his arse, but Toquero made it look easy. Check it out for yourself in the video above.
