Can you guess which two Sunderland players were arrested for wrecking cars?

No prizes if you had Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole, who were nicked yesterday for causing criminal damage to a number of cars in Newcastle City centre.

No prizes if you had Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole, who were nicked yesterday for causing criminal damage to a number of cars in Newcastle City centre.

The arrest was in relation to an incident which occurred on Tuesday night of last week on Stowell Street in Newcastle, close to St. James’ Park, or the Sports Direct Arena as it is never and will never be called.

Cattermole and Bendtner seemingly got a bit rowdy and caused criminal damage to a number of cars and police are currently studying CCTV footage in an attempt to uncover more details.

Following the arrest, the two players were questioned by police yesterday before being released on bail. A spokesperson for Northumbria police said to local reporters: “Police can confirm that on Thursday, December 15, two men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

“If follows an investigation in to damage caused to cars on Stowell Street in Newcastle city centre, which happened at about 10pm on Tuesday, December 6.”

Cattermole is one of the more fiery players in the Premier League and is something of a yellow card magnet for his abrasive and often needlessly aggressive playing style.

Thanks to his vastly overblown perception of himself, meanwhile, Bendtner is rarely far from controversy and this incident rounds off a particularly bad week for the Dane, who was caught on camera drunkenly begging for free pizza in Copenhagen after his credit card was refused.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer chap.
