Cork captain Graham Canty and Kildare midfielder Dermot Earley are in a race against time to be fit for their counties’ respective All-Ireland semi-finals later this month.

Canty sustained a hamstring injury in the act of scoring a point midway through the second half of the Rebels’ nine-point victory over Roscommon, while Earley had to be withdrawn with a knee injury after only two minutes of Kildare’s victory over Meath in the second quarter-final in Croke Park on Sunday.

Canty’s injury is expected to keep him sidelined for up to three weeks, which would leave his participation in the semi-final against Dublin on 22 August very much in doubt. Earley, meanwhile, will undergo a scan to determine the extent of his knee injury and will hope to be able to play some part in the Lilywhites’ semi-final against Down on 29 August.
