England boss Fabio Capello reckons his side can still make it all the way to the World Cup final next month, despite their struggles in the tournament to date.

Capello’s side have limped to unconvincing draws with the United States and Algeria, making Wednesday afternoon’s game against Slovenia a must-win affair.

Ahead of the tournament, the Italian predicted a first World Cup final appearance for England since 1966, and he stood by those claims when speaking to the press on Tuesday evening.

He said, “I am not crazy, when I said my target is the final of the World Cup it was because we showed this is a really good squad.

“I think if… no, not if, when we win (against Slovenia) then all the teams have to fight against us.”
