England manager Fabio Capello has announced that he has no intention of carrying on as England manager after Euro 2012.

Capello’s future was the subject of speculation after a disappointing World Cup campaign, but his reputation has been restored somewhat after two excellent performances by England in their opening Euro 2012 qualifying games.

After wins over Bulgaria and Switzerland, England lead Group G on six points and a win over Montenegro at Wembley next month would put them in an excellent position to secure qualification for the tournament in Poland and the Ukraine in two years time.

When asked would he be leaving after that tournament, Capello, who will be 66 at that stage, replied: “Absolutely. Yes,” repeating himself to emphasise the statement.

“We have to qualify first of course, but after that I will be too old.

“I want to enjoy my life as a pensioner,” he added.
