A father in New Zealand turned to his own son for some DIY dental care as he said ‘dental care is too expensive in New Zealand’.
A father in East Auckland was so sick of waiting for free medical care that he took a swig of bourbon, handed his son a pliers and closed his eyes.
Tevita Mahe, the dad in question, obviously took a page out of Apoel defender Paulo Jorge’s book, as he too pulled out his own tooth (or what was left of it) while playing against Real Madrid last month.
The ballsy father only allowed his son to heave out the painful tooth after he had been turned away from two separate free dental services.
Mr Mahe queued at Middlemore Hospital’s emergency dental clinic for three hours from 5am on April 25 but just missed out on the daily quota of 10 patients. According to Stuff.co.nz, he was 12th in line. What are the odds?
“I came home and asked my son to take out my tooth. He said to me, ‘are you ready dad?’ I kept saying, ‘wait, wait’, then I took a drink of bourbon and he pulled it out.”
Now, we don’t condone the practice of DIY dentistry, in any of it’s forms, but it just goes to show how far people are willing to go when the pain gets too much.
Have you ever yanked out a tooth with your own DIY dentistry? Hopefully you never had to, but if you have let us know how it went.
