Antony Worrall Thompson must have gone a bit ‘wild in the aisles’ after he was caught bagging cheese and wine that he didn’t pay for.

According to the Telegraph, a supermarket (apparently a Tesco) in Henley on Thames was suspicious of the celebrity chef taking goods he didn’t pay for on five separate occasions between December 22 and January 6 just gone.

They were so suspicious that they set up a ‘hidden camera’ to see if the celeb chef, famous for his appearances on Ready, Steady, Cook, had inadvertently forgotten to pay for his goods or if he was just shoplifting.

Worrall Thompson was caught after he was recorded on CCTV paying for the majority of his goods but bagging a few extra items, such as cheese and wine, without paying for them.

Security staff collared him as he left the shop on Friday and the police were then called in to investigate.

He was taken to the local police station where his mugshot, fingerprints and DNA saliva swab were taken, reports the Sun.

The police have since kept fairly quiet about the whole situation saying, “We arrested a man from High Wycombe following a report of shoplifting offences.

“The man has been issued with a formal caution for these offences.”

However, according to British law, a person must admit to an offence before they can be given a caution.

Maybe Worrall Thompson was just living out a boyhood dream of being on Supermarket Sweep. Sadly for him, his bonus prize was a freshly packaged wrap sheet.

So remember, the next time you’re at the checkout and you hear the beep, think of the fun you could be having… down at the police station, if you ‘forget’ to pay that is.
