Celtic have approached Manchester City with a view to signing the Welsh striker on loan.
Bellamy was left out of City’s squad for the Europa League qualifier against Timisoara on Wednesday despite the fact that there was room for two more players in the squad.
Earlier in the week, Bellamy hinted that he was ready to leave to leave City, or even quit football altogether if he wasn’t included in Roberto Mancini’s 25-man Premier League squad.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon confirmed on Thursday morning that the club had approached City with a view to taking Bellamy back to Celtic Park, where he spent six months on loan from Newcastle United in 2005.
