A 2-1 victory at Parkhead wasn’t good enough for the Bhoys, who crashed out 4-2 on aggregate to Portuguese League runners-up Braga.
Celtic, who were trailing 3-0 from the first, went behind in the second leg when Paulo Cesar headed home in the 20th minute.
Gary Hooper equalised for Celtic in the 52nd minute with his first goal for the club. “Hooper got a goal, which was pleasing on a difficult night for him,” Celtic manager Neil Lennon said.
Juarez got the second of the night for Celtic with ten minutes to go, but like Hooper’s it was to be merely a consolation.
Celtic will now be entered into the play-off rounds of the UEFA Europa League. “I do feel we can make an impact in that competition,” Lennon added.
