And there’s the full time whistle at Semple Stadium in Thurles. It’s finished up 2-18 to 2-06.
Long ball from O’Sullivan and Cooper gathers, turns his man and puts yet another over the bar. Out-and-out quality that chap.
Only two minutes remaining. Apologies again for the brief loss of coverage. A gremlin broke our Sky box. We will add the game’s up-dates from the down period in at full time.
Exhibition stuff from Kerry. Lovely, free-flowing football from the Kingdom’s men.
Tip looking for consolation points at this stage of the game. It’s hard on them, they played well in the early stages.
It’s finished up in the Leinster Championship game between Wicklow and Carlow. Wicklow ran out winners, taking the game 3-11 to 0-12.
Long ball falls to Sheehan – great take! He turns and slides the ball into the net. Cool as you like.
Kerry led by a single pointat half time but they’re class is showing through. With 64 minutes played it’s 1-17 to 2-06.
Kerry really coming into the game now
Apologies for the break in service, we’ve had some tech problems.
51
It’s full time in the Leinster Championship game between Wicklow and Carlow. A lot of people reckoned Carlow would do the business, but it’s finished up 3-11 0-9.
51
The high ball came in but Brendan Keeley failed to deal with it. Grogan rose with him and tipped the ball off his finger tips and into the net. That’s taken it to 1-12 to 2-06.
50
Goal Tip! It’s Barry Grogan again!
50
Barry Grogan sends in a free – mis-ques but falls well for Tip who have a goal chance! Great save Brendan Keeley. Got his team out of jail with a corker of a save.
49
Tip get a free in after a heavy challenge. Philip Austen fancies it. Sends it high! Drifts the wrong side of the up-right. Should have done better.
48
Goal mouth scramble – it’s desperate defending from Tip! Sheehan picks it up! Buries it. That will probably be a turning point in the game.
47
Goal Kerry!
46
Brian Shehan could put them away all day. Another point for Kerry.
44
O’Sullivan fouled and Kerry win a free. It’s inside the 45 metre line so should be easy. Curran meanwhile has picked up a yellow for what was a heavy tackle.
43
Route one from Kerry and it calls to Donnacha Walsh! Straight over the bar.
43
Ah he bottled it and took the easy point. That’s wasteful. It’s Kerry 0-10 Tip 1-06.
42
Flies down the other end and falls to Barry Grogan, it opens up for him and he can get a goal here!
41
Kerry get another point after the ball is spilled in the Tip goal mouth.
40
Cooper again for Kerry. Lovely little piece of interplay before the free-scoring Cooper puts it over.
39
Mistake in the Kerry defence lets Barry Grogan in! He puts it over totally unchallenged. Sides level again.
39
Sean Carey breaks down the left for Tip and lets one go – first wide of the half. Should have done better from that position.
38
Another great run from Cooper, off-loads to Galvin to punts it over. Kerry lead by one point as the ref blows the whistle for half time. It’s 0-08 1-04.
36
And the second half is under way at Semple Stadium.
34
George Hannigan getting spoken too by the ref and gets a yellow. He’s also given away a free and Sheehan converts. Level again for the fourth time in this game.
33
Tip haven’t been defending well but Kerry, despite some nice movement, have failed to capitalise. Tip meanwhile haven’t had many attacks but have scored from practically all of them.
31
Philip Austin bursting through again. He’s a bit of an animal this lad. Passes to Brian Mulvihill who puts one over.
30
Tip haven’t scored in 12 minutes. They need to get the finger out. That said, it’s been over 10 since Kerry scored. We need lots of fingers out of lots of holes.
29
The movement among the Kerry forwards is great to watch. Comes out to Cooper to has a go! Off the post.
28
It’s half time in Wicklow v Carlow. A goal in it – Wicklow are ahead by 1-6 to 0-6.
27
Sheehan hangs one up Walsh rises to meet it but Tip’s keeper gets there first.
26
Cooper is playing a stormer. Spraying the ball around at Tip’s 45 metre line.
25
Robbie Costigan given a yellow card. He’s made a few ropey challenges and the ref’s patience finally ran out.
22
Minutes in and Kerry are getting to grips with this one, although Tip are still holding their own. It’s 0-06 to 1-03.
Kerry’s line up is quite something. Tipperary have it all to do today.
By way of reminder, here’s the line up for today’s second big game:
Kerry: B Kealy; M Ó Sé, T Griffin, T O’Sullivan; T Ó Sé, M McCarthy, K Young; S Scanlon, M Quirke; P Galvin, D O’Sullivan, D Walsh; C Cooper, K Donaghy, B Sheehan.
Tipperary: P Fitzgerald; P Codd, N Curran, C McDonald; C Aylward, R Costigan, C McGrath; K Mulryan, G Hannigan; P Acheson, P Austin, H Coghlan; S Carey, B Grogan, B Mulvihill.
Armagh went and did their job today. They had to work hard at times although Derry struggled later on. Fair result it has to be said, although it wasn’t pretty. Way too many frees, too many cards and not enough scoring – especially from open play. But sure not to worry, we’ve got Tip v Kerry coming up next.
And there’s the whistle!
The point goes over, so there’s a goal between the two sides. We’re in extra time now, so Derry need a bit of a miracle.
Derry need two scores to tie the game, but they’ve got a free….
Full-time is approaching…
You have to wonder if Derry have just blown their chances with that penalty miss. It’s going to be a long way back for them.
The keeper was way off his line by the time the ball was struck there, he was lucky to get away with that.
Saved by Paul Hearty!
Armagh with some shocking defending! Derry man picks up an elbow in the head and it’s a penalty!
Yup, he’s gone off. Unfortunate for the lad, he’s had a good game.
Fergal Doherty has pulled up, I think he’s in trouble – looks like a hamstring…
Derry have started to struggle a bit in the second half and you get the impression that it’s Armagh’s to loose at this stage. Derry’s cracking record at Celtic Park could be about to come to an end.
Mark Craig is coming on for Derry. Debut man Michael Bateson is off.
Oh, we have some handbags – it started with a heavy shoulder on McKeever and then everyone just piled in. He didn’t react well to it McKeever, and he’s picked up a yellow.
And on his Championship debut. Great stuff.
Here come Armagh! Stevie McDonnell sends one in – Jamie Clarke picks it up and shoots! He’s buried it! Goal Armagh!
And he’s picked up his second yellow! He’s outta here!
That’s a heavy tackle by Eoin Bradley – swung his man around. He’s already on a card!
Another cheap free in scoring range for Derry – drops short and the keeper collects!
Very tight game so far and only 20 minutes to play. Either team could easilly take this one.
Derry are yet to get a score in the second half but here comes Eoin Bradley. He’s doing it all himself, right down the middle. Glides past two Armagh man and lets fly! And it’s over! That was the point of the game so far, and at a time when Derry really needed it.
Long ball down the middle – Henderson takes it down well under pressure. The 25-year-old sends it over for his first ever Championship point.
Ryan Henderson picks one up, turns and goes for a point! Off the post and out. He did well to get his shot away – unlucky not to get a point for his troubles.
The play seems to be opening up a bit.
Charlie Vernon goes it alone. Bursts forward from the 45 metre line under pressure from his marker – lets fly! Great point!
And we’re off again. There’s been no changes to the starting line up…
It’s been a scrappy sort of game with a lot of frees being given away. The rule changes brought in ahead of the Championship haven’t helped.
And there’s the half-time whistle.
Get the fire extinguisher because Stevie McDonnell is on fire. It makes it just over the bar in the bottom corner.
It’ not exactly free-flowing football here today, it has to be said. Danger man Stevie McDonnell pulled down and wins another free. Just outside the 45 metre line…
Stevie picks it up again and bursts down the middle. He’s going it alone! Shrugs off his marker and sends it over. That’s sensational stuff from Stevie McDonnell.
It’s end-to-end frees at Celtic Park today. Now Armagh have got another one and that man Stevie McDonnell is standing over it. Oh! He curls this one around the post! Sweet as a nut.
Derry win another free – 45 metres out. Mark Lynch sends it over!
Armagh pick up a free – this time on the wing. Looks a tough one but Stevie McDonnell does really well to send it over! He has some leg on him this fella.
March Lynch bursts through the centre. Plays a one-two with Fergal Doherty. Finds its way to Paddy Bradley! Adjusts his body and gets his hand to the ball. That’s a big boost for Derry just after the half-hour mark.
Goal Derry!
Eoin Bradley trips his man and picks up a yellow card. That’s the fourth of the game. We got off to a bit of a flying start but we haven’t had a point in a while. Still four points each.
Hand-pass infraction number three! This is going to be an issue.
Centre-half back Barry McGuigan for Derry is in trouble. He’s picked up a knock and he’s going to have to go off by the looks of things. Barry McGoldrick is coming on from him. That’s disapointing for the lad.
Great play by Aaron Kernan! He skips inside and takes it on his weaker right foot! Straight down the middle. He’s playing a stormer.
Armagh give away another free in the middle of the park – this time for a reckless tackle. Mark Lynch to take… sends it over. His second of the match.
Fergal O’Dogherty puts his keeper in trouble! Last gasp defending and they give away the free. Easy one at close distance…. Armagh are level.
Free doesn’t make it over and Armagh are back in possession.
McDonnell and McBride are the only two players left in Derry’s half. And they’re hand-bagging each other! Ref steps in and cards the both of them.
Eoin Bradley bursting through the middle – He’s caught and the whistle goes for a free.
Derry in a good position and they win a free! Bradley kicks without bother. Derry back in the lead.
Aaron Kernan with his second free – won’t miss this one. Easy. Teams level.
Moriarty body-checked by McGuckian! That was important – McGuckian has to take that one for the team – Moriarty was through on goal.
Eoin Bradley powering through the middle of the park for Derry. Tries a shot! Just wide. Very ambitious.
Off the up-right and goes wide! Derry still ahead by a single point.
Armagh are moving the ball around well. McBride wins a free – given for shirt-pulling by the looks of it. Not an easy one – it’s at a tight angle.
He puts it over with no trouble. Derry back in the lead.
Derry have a handy free here. Paddy Bradley to kick…
The referee has pulled up the play twice because he didn’t like the look of a hand-pass. There might be quite a bit of that today as the teams settle into the new hand-pass rules.
McDonald brings it level with a free from close range. It was given away quite pointlessly but Armagh will be happy to be on the scoreboard.
Mark Lynch kicks the first point with just over a minute gone. Great start for Derry. If it wasn’t for that save by Gillis in the first few seconds it would be a touch different.
Breaks to Brian Mallon 20 yards out! Great save from close range by the Derry keeper.
Armagh right-to-left in the first half – and we’re underway!
The girl singing the national athem today is a bit of a cracker actually. I was going to stand up for it, but decided you people needed to know that.
We’re going to have one minute of silence for those who died during An Gorta Mor.
Teams being led out onto Celtic Park and the parade is underway – less than five minutes until we get going.
Paddy O’Rourke: “I want the players to go out and express themselves.” Does he mean through the medium of interpretative dance? Here’s hoping.
Derry have a 16-year unbeaten championship record in Celtic Park. That’s sensational.
Damien Cassidy says he’s hoping to see an ‘attractive’ game of football. I pulled a young lady outside Celtic Park a while back. That’s not a word that could be applied to her unfortunately.
You can check out our weekend football preview here.
It’s looking damp at Celtic Park. The ball will be zipping around on that surface.
Kerry: B Kealy; M Ó Sé, T Griffin, T O’Sullivan; T Ó Sé, M McCarthy, K Young; S Scanlon, M Quirke; P Galvin, D O’Sullivan, D Walsh; C Cooper, K Donaghy, B Sheehan.
