Rugby star Danny Cipriani has reportedly been training with an MLS side, and the club believe that it could lead to a move.

The 22-year-old fly-half, who has recently signed a contract with Super 15 side the Melbourne Rebels, has reportedly been taking part in training sessions with the American soccer club the Colorado Rapids.

When asked by The Times whether Cipriani is considering the possibility of playing for the MLS franchise, Rapid’s PR man Jason Gilham said, “I think he is looking at that possibility. It is something that is being looked at from both sides.”

“He is keen to explore opportunities in soccer in general and with the Rapids in particular.”

Cipriani has been linked with a move to football before, to clubs such as Stoke and Fulham, and trained with Neil Warnock’s QPR in August, where he played in some reserve matches.

In July, however, his publicity company contacted JOE to tell us that Cipriani is committed to continuing his rugby career with the Rebels.

“He is absolutely on board,” Rebels coach Rod Macqueen has also said. “We have seen no evidence to say that he is not coming. We are expecting him in about three weeks.”
