A Sean Lamont try in the last play of the game robbed Connacht of a deserved away victory against the Scarlets in Llanelli on Saturday afternoon.

Ian Keatley’s penalty with five minutes left looked to have sealed a famous win for Connacht, who haven’t won away from home in the Magners League since April 2008.

Scarlets led 20-13 at the break after scoring two tries to Connacht’s one in the first half. Jonathan Davies and Regan King touched down for the hosts, with Fionn Carr scoring a brilliant individual try in between.

Another Carr try put the Westerners back in front with fifteen minutes left on the clock, but the sides were level again shortly after when Davies went over for his second try.

Keatley’s penalty with only minutes remaining looked to have sealed victory for the visitors before Lamont’s late intervention.
