Waterford hurling legend Tony Browne has confirmed his retirement from inter-county hurling.
Browne, 37, made his championship debut for the Déise in 1992 and has played at the top level for an amazing 19 seasons.
Browne won four Munster titles with Waterford and three All-Star awards, while he was named hurler of the year in 1998.
Browne also won seven county championship medals with Mount Sion and a Munster championship title in 2002. He played at midfield for the majority of his inter-county career, but reverted back to the half-back line in recent seasons.
Browne’s decision to retire comes in the wake of the retirement of fellow Waterford hurler, Dan Shanahan, who announced his decision following the All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Tipperary last month.
